XMC5000 MCU series from Infineon available| Electronics Weekly

Rutronik makes industrial Infineon XMC5000 MCU series available

Featuring an Arm 160MHz Cortex-M4F core, memory can up to 2MB Flash and 256KB SRAM, with interfaces for CAN FD, SPI, I²C and UART. With a supply voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V, the operating temperature range is from –40 °C to 125°C.

A key differentiating feature of the XMC5000 series, highlights Ruthonik, is its support for dual motor control and power factor correction (PFC) within a single microcontroller.

Families

Note that the series is structured into three scalable families: XMC5100, XMC5200 and XMC5300.

According to Rutronik, the XMC5100 targets cost-sensitive and moderately demanding applications. “It offers an 80 MHz Cortex-M4F core, up to 576 KB Flash and 64 KB SRAM, as well as a solid peripheral set including up to 4 CAN FD interfaces and multiple ADC channels. This makes it suitable for basic motor control and general industrial control tasks,” writes the distributor.

Next up, the XMC5200 series increases system performance with a 160 MHz Cortex-M4F core and expanded memory of up to 1088 KB Flash and 128 KB SRAM. “It also provides enhanced peripheral capabilities, including up to 6 CAN FD interfaces and a higher number of timer and ADC channels. This positions it for more complex control systems and multi-axis motor control applications.”

Finally, at the top end, the XMC5300 is for maximum performance and integration density. “With up to 2 MB Flash and 256 KB SRAM, as well as the most extensive peripheral configuration – including up to 8 CAN FD interfaces and advanced timer resources – it is designed for highly integrated systems and demanding real-time control applications.”

XMC5000 features

The company writes:

“The XMC5200 series significantly increases system performance with a 160 MHz Cortex-M4F core and expanded memory of up to 1088KB Flash and 128KB SRAM. It also provides enhanced peripheral capabilities, including up to 6 CAN FD interfaces and a higher number of timer and ADC channels. This positions it for more complex control systems and multi-axis motor control applications.”
