nRF54L15 prototyping tag from Nordic Semiconductor| Electronics Weekly

Nordic finds dual-antenna nRF54L15 prototyping tag

The idea is for developers to to more quickly build proofs of concept for ultra-low-power wireless products. For example, asset tags, Bluetooth trackers, and other such devices.

The company says it is the hardware counterpart to its existing SDK support for the Android and iOS systems.

The prototyping tag employs Nordic’s nRF54L15 SoC, using 2.4 GHz radio with ultra-low power consumption.

Its on-board dual antennas improve robustness for distance measurement using Bluetooth Channel Sounding. And this is while integrated sensors support edge AI and Matter prototyping.

Powered by a CR2032 coin-cell battery, a low-power accelerometer enables motion-triggered wake-up, keeping the system in deep sleep when inactive and extending battery life.

“Crowdsourced finding networks like Apple Find My and Google Find Hub have become a core feature in asset tags, Bluetooth trackers, and a growing range of consumer IoT products,” says Petter Myhre, Product Marketing Director at Nordic.

“The nRF54L15 Tag [will] to accelerate the prototyping phase for developers building with these technologies. It is the hardware counterpart to Nordic’s existing SDK support for Apple Find My and Google Find Hub.”

The nRF54L15 Tag is “broadly available” for development through distribution, says Nordic.
