PlayStation Considering Revisiting Old IPs, PS3 Game Revivals Also on the Cards

It seems as though the remakes will continue until morale improves, with NateTheHate2 on social media platform X substantiating a rumor that Sony was “exploring and considering” reviving some “older, unused IPs,” suggesting that these likely wouldn’t be franchises or IPs that have had new entries since the PlayStation 1, 2, or potentially PS3 eras. A separate leak purports to reveal the first franchise revisit is already in development, although under a different studio than the original.
According to VGC journalist, Jordan Miller, on the VGC Podcast, there is “an inFamous thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation,” implying that Sucker Punch will not be involved in the new game. The journalist did not share his source or comment further about which studio would be working on the game, but by the sounds of things, it will be a new entry into the franchise, not a remake, per se. At the same time, Sony recently shuttered Bluepoint Games, which was a studio known for making solid remasters and remakes. The relevant VGC Podcast episode is embedded below.
