Samsung 2nm yields inch towards mass production

In H2 2025 Samsung’s 2nm yield was in the 20-30% range so the 55% figure is quick progress.

In July 2025 Elon Musk gave Samsung a $16 billion order which included a provision giving him access to Samsung’s Taylor, Austin fab (pictured) with a view to increasing productivity.

With 60% the minimum for mass production, Samsung may be in the running to pick up a major customer later in the year.

Qualcomm is evaluating Snapdragon prototypes made by Samsung with a view to using it for volume.

TSMC’s 2nm yields are said to be in the high 60s. Intel’s 18A yield is thought to be in the low 50s.

Elon Musk  now has deals with both Samsung and Intel each of which give him access to the companies’ fabs with a view to optimising processes.
