Investors included: the EU-backed fund Kembara, DCVC, the British Business Bank, Firgun Ventures, Oxford Science Enterprises, Robert Bosch Venture Capital and Porsche Automobile Holding SE

Nine year-old Quantum Motion was founded by academics from Oxford University and UCL with the aim of building quantum computers using CMOS chips on which quantum  information is stored in the spin of an electron creating ‘dot spin qubits’. The  chips are fabbed by Globalfoundries.

Quantum Motion has already delivered one quantum computer to the UK National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).

The funding comes three months after Quantum Motion announced the opening of new offices in the foodie mecca San Sebastian in Spain, where the conpany is partnering with Spanish research centre CIC Nanogune.

Quantum Motion also has offices in London, Oxford and Sydney.
