The King was putting the UK’s case for getting more attention from startup investors – a cause he backed himself with the Prince’s Trust.

They talked about the funding gap that early-stage startups face, especially those spun out of universities. The King also linked the point to UK ambitions to attract more tech investment.

Bezos said that he was turned down by 40 companies when looking for investment for Amazon, to which the King responded they all must be kicking themselves now.

Jensen Huang suggested there are opportunities in AI and quantum robotics.

When Prince of Wales, the King persuaded Akio Morita, the founder of Sony, to set up a TV factory in Wales.
