Apple’s foldable iPhone may be delayed

Apple’s foldable iPhone may be delayed

It is said that some of the components suppliers have been notified that there is a possibility that production schedules will be affected.

Delays to Apple’s first foldable will very likely affect the entire foldables market which was hoping to get a boost from Apples’ launch.

Last year foldables accounted for only about 1.6% of the total smartphone market – representing about 20.6 million phones –  and IDC was forecasting a 30% increase in the numbers this year on the back of the Apple launch.

That would leave about 15 manufacturers in the foldables business led by Samsung, Google, Motorola, OnePlus, Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, Honor, Vivo, Royole, ZTE, Infinix, Tecno, and Nubia.

They were all expected to get a boost from an Apple entry into the market.

It is estimated by the Nikkei that Apple was intending to make between 7 and 8 million foldables this year representing about 10% of Apple’s iPhone unit volume this year.
