True Anomaly raises $650m Series D for space-enabled intelligence

The round was co-led by Eclipse and Riot Ventures. It included new investors Paradigm, Atreides, G Squared, The Private Shares Fund, and VanEck, and others. And there was backing from the existing investors Accel, Menlo Ventures, ACME Capital, Space VC, Meritech Capital, Narya, and 645 Ventures.

Note, the financing total includes a $50 million debt provision by Stifel Bank.

Mission

Over the next 18 months, the company says it will be fly multiple missions and product demonstrations in LEO and GEO, including the VICTUS HAZE Tactically Responsive Space mission in LEO.

It also expects to deliver the modular satellite Jackal, for the U.S. Space Force’s $1.8bn Andromeda programme, the contract underpinning a Geosynchronous Reconnaissance and Surveillance Constellation. And to deliver Mosaic, providing the specialised software for responsive tactical and operational space warfighting.

The company also expects to quadruple its headcount from 250 at year-end 2025 to over 1,000 in 2028.

Conflict

The company highlights recent warfare involving Iran and Ukraine.

“Recent conflicts have made clear that space superiority is not merely a conceptual imperative; it is a prerequisite for joint force success. The recent Iran conflict is the clearest contemporary example: Operation Midnight Hammer, the subsequent Iranian missile attacks, and Operation Epic Fury demonstrated how critical space-enabled intelligence, precision navigation, missile warning, communications, and electromagnetic effects are to long-range strike, force protection, and coalition decision-making. When Iran launched missiles at Al Udeid, space-based warning and tracking helped give U.S. personnel time to prepare, seek shelter, and to allocate defensive resources, demonstrating that space control can be the difference between surprise and survivability.”

True Anomaly

The latest funding round means True Anomaly has raised more than $1 billion in total capital since its 2022 founding.
