Malcolm Penn - Semiconductor downturn forecast1. Semiconductor downturn forecast
Alone among semiconductor analysts, the normally bullish CEO of Future Horizons, Malcolm Penn (pictured), forecasted an industry downturn – “maybe this year, if not, next year” – speaking at IFS 2026 yesterday. Penn pointed to a number of anomalies in the market. Unit growth is below the industry trend-line. “There’s still no unit growth,” said Penn, “market growth is being driven by ASP not unit growth which is unusual. It’s usually the other way round.”
